High-quality leather is not fragile, so don’t be afraid to use it every day! Generally speaking, the more oil there is on the surface of the leather, the more water-repellant and stain-resistant it will be. Every time you touch a leather item, a tiny bit of oil is transferred from your skin to the item. Over time, this will cause the leather to develop a beautiful, rich patina that is an unmistakable mark of authenticity. In addition, this buildup of oils will increase the stain-resistant properties of your leather item over time… but you will only see these benefits if you USE your item regularly! The part of your bag most susceptible to marks and stains is the interior, and the best way to avoid this is to take steps to prevent it before it happens in the first place. The best thing you can do for your bag’s interior is to keep your lipstick in its own case. Caps come off, candy wrappers tear, pens leak. Life happens… plan for it! If you add only one accessory to your handbag purchase, protect your investment and choose a lipstick case or a pencil case. Weather not cooperating? Some types of leather, such as oil-tanned, can withstand pretty much any kind of climate and survive beautifully. Others, such as suede, should never be exposed to excessive moisture. Here’s a great idea for those days that you just aren’t sure: Before you leave the house, tuck one of those plastic bags from the grocery store into your purse. This way, in case you get caught in unexpected weather, you can put your purse into the plastic bag and protect it while you run from your car to your house. |
A recent episode of the PBS series Voces examined the controversial incidents around the morning of January 28, 1918; when fifteen men and boys were rounded up and executed. In a movie titled Porvenir Texas. Jerry Patterson, who served as a historical consultant for the production, offered our WTL blog his reflections on both the movie and the lessons learned from that event. |
Fall has finally arrived (…and if you live in Texas, consider this a Public Service Announcement since you probably have not yet noticed), and we all want to spend as much time outdoors as we can. Here’s a cool idea that you and your four-legged best friend will both love: Use the pocket wallet with belt loop to carry your dog treats on your next walk. Try this, and I guarantee that your dog will say, “Woof!” (That means, “Thank you!”) |
